I have always been a plant person. Since a young girl I have befriended plants and trees, learned from wise women gardeners about nurturing gardens and the magic and folklore of plants. Gardening passionately – owning a landscape gardening and design company in the Wood River Valley for thirty plus years – exploring nature and building relationships with plants have naturally been part of my life. Nature teaches me about myself and shares her secrets with me through the many ways I connect with her; teaching children human earth connection classes, wildcrafting, foraging wild edibles, growing all sorts of plants, deepening my understanding of botany and making herbal medicine. I love the deep intrinsic connection between plants, people, nature and the divine. It matters to me that all plants – even weeds – thrive in their natural habitat for us to communicate with, heal with, learn from and grow together with.
Fertility, birth and motherhood fueled me to go deeper into learning about our amazing bodies and how to keep myself and my family healthy. Life unfolded and a sudden tragic event changed my life forever. An inbounds avalanche took my husband’s life, which catapulted me into profound healing and the need to guide our child to heal. As the healing process unraveled, new layers presented themselves. Past traumas and experiences I had not fully digested came forward as well as the ongoing shifts I needed to adjust to as I become a more whole person. Healing is a life long journey as we can continually become more aware of ourselves from every aspect. Life is more enriched and the meaning of gratitude becomes more clear.
My experiences of the interconnectedness of my emotions, thoughts and spiritual growth with my physical body pulled many of the threads of my understandings together and I felt called to dive deeper into the healing realm as more knowing was necessary to heal. I have studies and practice in shamanism- Ka Ta See and Qi Gong; and have been a student of yoga and meditation most of my adult life. I began formal studies in herbal medicine and aromatherapy in the early 2000s, building upon what the plants directly taught me. Developing my own course of studies over many years, synthesizing, experiencing and practicing what I’ve learned, has resulted in achieving a masters level of study in herbal medicine.
I have had the pleasure of studying many different master herbalists gleaning their various perspectives and intertwining their knowledge into my own personal approach primarily within the traditions of Ayurveda and Western Herbalism. Energy Medicine found me when I needed it most, guiding me to become a fully certified Touching the Light™ practitioner. Supporting the body/mind with herbal medicine and healing from the inside with energy medicine has remarkable outcomes. It is time to step out and share my knowledge/practices and experience in the hopes of guiding others toward the very best expression of themselves. The hedgewitch is coming out of the woods.
Deep nature connection, energy healing and herbal medicine can take us there in joy!
